Vitamin and mineral supplements

Mineral supplements and vitamins are the chief components in any dog’s feeding. A dog that is meals are filled with vitamins and mineral supplements, will have a healthy life and your dogs immunity will not be compromised in any way. This simply means that the dogs immunity will be very strong.

As a dogs owner, it is pertinent that you know that vitamins A, D, E, and K are fat-soluble vitamins and others are the water-soluble vitamins. Vitamins like cyanocobalamin, thiamine and pyridoxine and are important for the proper functioning of the nervous system. A lack of vitamin A can result in night blindness and lesions on the skin. A lack of vitamin D in dogs can lead to the softening and weakening of the bones.

Also ensure you do not give your dog too much vitamins as this can lead to vitamins intoxicity. A good source of vitamin A is cod liver oil and is acknowledge a quality feed for dogs.

Not all dogs need vitamin or mineral supplements to have a healthy life ut it does help. However, they do become necessary if you notice any unhealthy symptoms in your dogs. It is recommended you seek the advise of a veterinarian doctor before proceeding.

Note that frozen fish is deficient of vitamin B1 and therefore has to be provided to the dog in the form of supplements. As already warned, ensure not to overwhelm your dog with too much supplements. Always consult your veterinarian doctor to know the right amount of supplements to give your dog

Minerals like calcium, zinc, magnesium, manganese, copper, iron and so on should be given a lot of emphasis in addition to sodium and potassium. Zinc gives your dog very good skin, potassium is good for muscle health while calcium with phosphorus is good for your dog’s bone health.

If you feed your dog a mixture of meat and vegetables, it is necessary that you reduce the amount of supplements given as vegetables are rich in vitamins and minerals. It is advisable you consult your veterinarian doctor if you want to supplement your dogs food with these nutrients
